I picked up a paint brush before I picked up a fork. Painting has been a part of my life for as far as I could remember. It started with paint with numbers but I would end up painting outside the lines and created my own image. Growing up I thought everyone was drawing and painting, until I realized kids were playing more outside. I would say painting became my diary. I have never had a concept of what I’m creating just leaving it all to the paint brush. Everything that I’ve created has been free hand and my first time seeing, like everyone else, what my creative range is. Up until this year I’ve kept all my work to myself. In 2014 my brother and my best friend passed within months of each other. In 2015 I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor and went through brain surgery in 2016. During recovery I began using digital art. In 2017 I lost my home and job during Hurricane Harvey and within that week my stepfather committed suicide. Going through so much grief Ive turned to art to relax my mind. This will be my first time releasing my work to an audience and although I’m nervous, I’m excited to go through this journey.
